PhD PREVENTIVE & SOCIAL MEDICINE
In this PhD Preventive & Social Medicine it is a three year or four year duration doctoral level of course. Preventive and Social Medicine is the newly introduced division of the medical science, which centered on the measures taken to prevent the many communicable and non-communicable diseases, more than finding the cure for them, and encourage health in the society. The doctoral courses mainly developed to the equip candidate with an in-depth knowledge about many of epidemiological principles and the measures taken to the promote health, outbreaks, investigation and prevention of the diseases. The main purpose of this course is to provide patient-centered comprehensive primary health care and including follow-up and the referral. The course syllabus is divided in six semesters in six month each. The program provides study in the medical service ranging from the curative to the rehabilitative health services, including statistics, the psychology, sociology, law, the engineering and economics as well as the clinical sciences and biological sciences.

PhD PREVENTIVE & SOCIAL MEDICINE ADMISSION PROCESS:
Admission to the PhD programme shall be based on the candidate mark obtained in the entrance test conducted by the respective department of school of the particular or each university or college. Those candidates who have completed their GATE or NET/SET/ M.Phil Examination in the pertinent subjects of the apex bodies as CSIR/UGC/ICAR/ICMR will be disown from the Entrance Test. While giving the exemptions, the Departmental Committee of the university may be consider research work or earlier PhD or experience done by the candidate. If a candidate already holds the Doctor of degree in the relevant subjects from the UGC Approved University or College, he or she may be exempted from entrance exam and pre PhD coursework. After clearing the both steps the candidates will be eligible to pay the course fee or registration fee. Only the predetermined number of candidate may be admitted to PhD programme of Preventive and social Medicine.
